Policy and Advocacy

Birmingham Chamber’s Policy Unit provides a voice on issues affecting businesses in Greater Birmingham, helping to create an environment in which they can flourish.

We lobby on issues such as transport, skills, regulation and energy. We build and maintain strong links with a number of key bodies locally, nationally and on a European level including:

•   Government
•   MPs and MEPs
•   Civil servants
•   Local Enterprise Partnerships
•   Other business organisations and agencies

The Policy department also represent Members views on major economic decisions that impact on their businesses, such as monthly interest rate decisions, the Autumn Statement and the Budget.

The Policy department can offer Members the opportunity to become involved in lobbying work that can improve a firm’s profile both in the industry and in the media and give them a voice on the issues that matter to them.

Our current campaigns on economy; transport; and skills & employability are described below. To discuss the Chamber’s policy work contact Katie Teasdale, Director of Policy, at k.teasdale@birmingham-chamber.com.

The Chamber’s current priority campaigns are economy; skills & employability; and, transport.
